Honorary Treasurer

The Honorary Treasurer to serve for four years from the AGM in July 2009

Dr Peter Machin BSc CChem FRSC FMedSci, Council's nominee, was the sole candidate and was therefore declared elected.

Peter Machin is a Consultant in Drug Discovery.  He has spent over thirty years in drug discovery at major pharmaceutical companies:

• at Roche as head of chemistry in the UK
• at SmithKline Beecham as Vice President of Discovery Chemistry Europe and, most recently
• as Global Senior Vice President of Discovery Research Chemistry at GlaxoSmithKline  

He has previously served as an elected member of RSC Council, a member of the RSC Audit Committee and Chair of the Chemistry For Our Future Steering Committee. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
