President Elect
The President Elect to serve from the AGM July 2009 and become President in 2010
Professor David Phillips OBE BSc PhD CSci CChem FRSC, Council's nominee, was the sole candidate and was therefore declared elected.
David Phillips is Emeritus Professor at Imperial College London, having previously been Hofmann Professor of Chemistry and Dean of the Faculties of Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.
His extensive research activities have included collaborations with academic institutions in Europe, USA and Japan, and with many industries, including 3M, BP, Monsanto and Unilever. He has formed the start-up company PhotoBiotics.
He has previously served on RSC Council as Chair of the Education and Qualifications Board. He is a passionate enthuser of young people and Chair and founding member of London Gifted and Talented.
