The Atomic Spectroscopy Group is one of the RSC's many Interest Groups. The Interest Groups are member driven groups which exist to benefit RSC members, and the wider chemical science community, in line with the RSC's strategy and charter.
Aims
The group's aim is to extend the knowledge, understanding and application of all aspects of atomic spectroscopy within analytical chemistry; and to encourage and assist all scientists, irrespective of experience, actively engaged in this analytical field.
Activities
- Support and promote the use of atomic spectroscopy within analytical chemistry
- Organising international seminars and conferences (e.g. Biennial National Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium (BNASS), which is held in different areas of the UK every two years)
- Presenting awards such as the Thermo-Hilger Award and the Allan Ure Memorial Bursary
- Travel grants to support postgraduate students, postdoctoral research fellows and scientists who have been in academia and industry for less than five years
How to Join
RSC members can join the Atomic Spectroscopy interest group by updating their details in the “My communities and subscriptions” tab of the online RSC membership area. Please click here to login and add to your list of Interest Groups.
