RSC Regions

Within the UK and Ireland, there are 35 Local Sections, each with its own committee and its own programme of events. To address issues on a regional basis and ensure that local active members can meet to discuss common issues, the 35 Local Sections are grouped into 9 Regions.

Issues such as the devolution of a Parliament to Scotland, the establishment of assemblies in Wales and (possibly) Northern Ireland, and the increased emphasis on regional activities in England [via the establishment of Regional Development Agencies] re-emphasises the importance of the active involvement of members with their Local Sections and the need for regional issues to be considered and debated.

An annual meeting takes place in each Region. This brings members of all committees together with officers of interest groups and members of RSC main boards and committees. The meeting is addressed by a senior member of Council (normally the President) and the agenda provides an opportunity to debate local, regional and national issues.
