-Amidoaldehydes via oxazoline hydroformylation

4-Substituted oxazolines, which are readily synthesized from naturally occurring -amino acids, are converted efficiently and stereospecifically to -amidoaldehydes in the presence of synthesis gas and catalytic dicobalt octacarbonyl.
