As part of our promotional activities to highlight the success of the journal and recognise the latest outstanding new research in the fields of physical chemistry and chemical physics, PCCP is presenting a series of prizes at conferences throughout 2009. 

At the recent 100th anniversary National Meeting of the Società Chimica Italiana (SCI), which was held in July in Sorrento, Italy, there were three poster prizes, which were awarded to:

  Resistive molecular memories: influence of molecular parameters on the electrical bistabilità  
• S. Nappini, F. Baldelli Bombelli, M. Bonini, B. Nordèn, P. Baglioni 
  Magnetoliposomes for controlled drug release in presence of low frequency magnetic field 
• C. Tedesco, L. Erra, M. Brunelli, V. Cipolletti, C. Gaeta, J. L. Atwood, A. N. Fitch, P. Neri 
  Methane storage in a supramolecular organic zeolite 

As the Società Chimica Italiana is one of PCCP's 16 Owner Societies, to celebrate their centenary PCCP has published a special celebratory issue to highlight the recent work of Italian physical chemists. This special celebratory issue was prepared in collaboration with two of PCCP's Editorial Board members; Piergiorgio Casavecchia and Vincenzo Barone, who is also the President of the Physical Chemistry Division of SCI.
