Control of charge recombination at nanostructured quantum-dot sensitized TiO2 interfaces employing a multi-step redox cascade
Henry C. Leventis and Saif A. Haque
A hybrid dye/CdS-sensitized TiO2 solar cell architecture is presented whereby the CdS nanocrystal layer is shown to perform multiple functions—retarding interfacial charge recombination and harvesting short-wavelength light, whilst acting as a redox mediator in the injection of electrons from the photo-excited dye into the mesoporous TiO2 nanoparticle film.
