OBC Board Members win prizes
01 August 2008
Two OBC board members have recently been awarded RSC prizes.
Veronique Gouveneur (University of Oxford) was awarded the RSC Bader Award for important contributions to synthetic organofluorine chemistry.
This Award was founded by an endowment from Dr Alfred Bader to recognise eminence in organic chemistry. Veronique has served on the OBC Board since 2007. She started her independent research career at the University of Oxford in September of 1998.

One of the main research themes of her group is fluorine chemistry with an extensive research programme aimed at developing novel synthetic methodologies for the preparation of fluorinated targets.
Steven Ley (University of Cambridge) was honoured with the industrially sponsored High Throughput Drug Discovery Methodologies Award for his pioneering role in the automation of synthetic organic chemistry.

Steven has served on the OBC Advisory Board since 2003. The Ley group has pioneered the use of immobilised reagents in multi-step organic synthesis to make compounds in a cleaner and more effective way.
This work now incorporates flow chemistry for multistep organic synthesis applications.
