Stefan Matile

Stefan Matile received his PhD (1994) from the University of Zurich under the direction of Wolf Woggon. After a postdoc with Koji Nakanishi at Columbia University (1994-1996), he joined Georgetown University as an Assistant Professor. In 1999, he moved to Geneva, where he is currently Full Professor of Organic Chemistry. He joined the OBC editorial board in 2006. His research interest to create functional systems combines organic synthesis with biological and supramolecular materials chemistry. Current emphasis is on multifunctional nanoarchitectures on solid substrates and in lipid bilayer membranes, covering topics such as photosystems, biosensors, ion channels and pores.
