Soft drug delivery systems

Martin Malmsten

This brief review aims at providing some illustrative examples on the use of soft drug delivery systems formed by surfactants, polymers, and lipids. Such delivery systems are discussed and exemplified regarding both more traditional soft drug delivery systems such as micelles, liquid crystalline phases, liposomes and polymer gels, as well as more novel structures, e.g., carbon nanotubes, polyelectrolyte multilayer capsules, and liquid crystalline particles.
