CrystEngComm

A monthly journal at the forefront of crystal engineering.

CrystEngComm's 10th Anniversary Issue

20 November 2008

CrystEngComm is celebrating its 10th year of publication this year! The occasion has been marked with the publication of a CrystEngComm Anniversary Issue. This theme issue contains 31 articles written by both current and former members of the journal's Editorial and Advisory Boards. It includes a Highlight from former Editorial Board Chair, Lee Brammer as well as Communications by Joel Miller, Michaele Hardie, Ashwini Nangia, Susumu Kitagawa and Catalina Ruiz-Perez.

The breadth of research reported in this issue reflects the diversity of the field of crystal engineering. The articles come from four continents, covering a wide range of topics covering across modern chemistry and materials science. Some fields that were represented in the first issues of CrystEngComm ten years ago remain at the forefront of crystal engineering, notably polymorphism, co-crystals and metal organic frameworks.

"I appreciate the speed at which papers are processed and the very kind co-operation of the editorial staff. What else to say: Happy Birthday CrystEngComm..., and keep up the good work!"
- Pierangelo Metrangolo of Milan, Italy

Since the publication of its very first article in 1999 (Leonard R. MacGillivray et al.,  CrystEngComm, 1999, 1, 1 - 4), CrystEngComm has grown in size by more than a factor of ten. The journal now boasts the fastest publication times and highest immediacy index for a crystal engineering journal, plus an impressive impact factor of 3.468.

Many other events have been held this year to celebrate the journal's birthday. These included a sponsored speakers' lunch at the XXI Congress and General Assembly of the International Union of Crystallography in Osaka, Japan and thirteen CrystEngComm poster prizes were awarded at international conferences this year in support of up and coming researchers.

Overall this celebratory issue demonstrates the health of crystal engineering as a research field and we look forward to the next ten years of both crystal engineering research and CrystEngComm. Thank you to all those who have contributed to the great success of the journal since its launch - as authors, referees, readers and in some cases Editorial and Advisory Board members!
