| Kay Severin is an associate professor at the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering at the Swiss Federal Insitute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL). Research in the Severin group is based on the development of new catalysts, receptors and sensors. |
The Dalton Transactions European Lectureship is awarded to recognise the achievements of an emerging European inorganic chemist. Nominations were open from October 2007 until February 2008, with a great response from across Europe.
After carefully considering all of the nominees, the Dalton Transactions Editorial Board selected Kay Severin from the EPFl, Switzerland, as the 2008 recipient of this prestigious award.
'The competition was very stiff this year, and much time was spent debating who should receive this year's lectureship. In the end, the Editorial Board decided to give the prize to Kay in recognition of his important contributions to a broad range of research areas and the applications of his fundamental studies to catalysis and diagnostics', sayd Dr Jamie Humphrey, Editor.
Professor Severin said he is delighted to accept the 2008 Dalton Transactions European Lectureship. 'That's really great news! And of course an honor for my coworkers, who have done a great job over the last years.' Professor Severin will present the Dalton Transactions European lecture at three locations within Europe.
