FIGIPAS 2009: A smashing success

This electronic collection of articles offers a selection of papers which were presented at the 10th FIGIPAS international conference, which took place in Palermo, Italy, from 1-4 July 2009.
About 300 scientists from 43 different countries gathered in sunny and beautiful Palermo to talk about inorganic chemistry during a 4 day meeting.
This year's conference included two new themes, renewable energy and global sustainability. Undoubtedly, the focus on modern chemistry and the multi-disciplinary character of this meeting is one of the key points contributing to its success.
The enjoyable lectures and stimulating chemistry, together with the beautiful landscape, amazing food and the Mediterranean warmth that only the Bay of Palermo can offer, made the first week of July an enjoyable time for those lucky enough to be there.
