Faraday Discussion 144: Multiscale Modelling of Soft Matter
11 September 2009
Faraday Discussion 144 took place at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands, from 20-22 July 2009.
The meeting focussed on the multiscale modelling of soft matter, bringing together people from different (but overlapping) fields of modelling to discuss the modelling of membranes, colloids, polymers and more.
FD144 was very well attended with delegates from Europe, the US, India and Japan. In total 24 papers were presented over the course of 3 days and there was enthuisastic discussion of all of these. Posters were presented at the lively poster and networking session and the delegates enjoyed a sumptious Conference Banquet. The Introductory Lecture was given by Kurt Kremer of the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany and the Concluding Remarks by Herman Berendsen of the University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
The papers presented at the discussion are already published online, with the full volume, including the dynamic discussion sessions, due to be published later in the year.
Four articles presented at the discussion were selected as Hot Articles and these are free to access for the next six weeks:
