Salt Lake City prize winners announced

01 April 2009

It was an action packed few days at the RSC booth 1525 for the ACS Spring 2009 National Meeting in Halls B-F of the Salt Palace Convention Center, Salt Lake City, Utah from 22-25 March.

New journal and technology announcements were celebrated with an iPod Touch on offer as a prize. Plus, to reflect the theme of the meeting, and the release of Nanochemistry 2nd Edition, two iPod Nanos were also on offer. Sample copies of journals flew off the stand, while many visitors took advantage of books offered at discounted prices. RSC staff were also kept busy with RSC membership and other enquiries.

The chocolate challenge on Monday and Tuesday, celebrating the recent publication of The Science of Chocolate 2nd Edition, proved especially popular. Entrants were asked to identify UK, US and mainland European chocolate, and to choose their favourite. Over the two days, 336 people from a total of 28 different countries, including Japan, Russia, Italy, India, Germany and the Phillippines, tested their tastebuds. The most popular of the three varieties of chocolate was that from mainland Europe, with 123 votes. 59 individuals liked all three varieties equally.

While at the booth, many visitors entered the competition to win one of several prizes, and the lucky winners, drawn at random from the entries, were:
