Prize draw terms and conditions
1.1. The Promoter of this prize draw is the Royal Society of Chemistry (incorporated in England by Royal Charter (Registered No. RC000524) and Registered Charity (Charity No. 207890) with a registered address at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BA (“the Promoter” or “RSC”).
1.2. The prize draw is open to all current Associate Members of the RSC (“Associate Members”). All current Associate Members are those persons who have paid in full for their Associate Membership with the RSC, which is active when they enter the prize draw. To ensure those whose membership is not current or those who are not yet Associate Members still have a chance to enter, provided you have (i) applied to become an Associate Member, (ii) paid the membership fee in full before entering the prize draw, and (iii) your membership is approved by the RSC on or by 13th January 2025, your entry to the prize draw will still be counted. Please note, that all Associate Membership applications need to be considered by the RSC before membership is granted. Therefore, permission to become an Associate Member is not automatic or immediate.
1.3. The prize draw is only available to persons over the age of 18.
1.4. The prize draw is free to enter if you are an Associate Member or you have applied to become an Associate Member as set out in paragraph 1.2 above.
1.5. All entries must be submitted by each Associate Member filling out the prize draw application form on this page, including the email address linked with your active RSC Associate Membership account or your Associate Member application.
1.6. The Promotor will accept only one entry per person.
1.7. The prize draw opens on 26 November 2024 and closes on 15 December 2024 at 23:59, with the winning entries to be drawn by the Promoter on 14 January 2025 using a computer program to generate winners randomly.
1.8. There are three prizes to be won by three Associate Members. If the winner is in the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland or Ireland: each prize is a goody bag which includes: one RSC cotton bag, one RSC insulated water bottle, one RSC lunch pot, and one Waterstones gift voucher worth £20. If the winner is outside of the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland or Ireland: each prize is an Amazon gift voucher worth £30.
1.9. The Promoter reserves the right to provide substitute prizes of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promotor’s control make it necessary to do so.
1.10. The winners will be notified by email by 20 January 2025 to the email address linked to their RSC Associate Membership account. If a winner does not claim the prize within 30 days of being notified, then they will forfeit the prize and a re-draw for that prize will take place by the Promotor. The Promotor will keep performing re-draws until all three prizes are claimed.
1.11. To claim the prize, the winner must follow the instructions in the email from the Promotor notifying them that they have won a prize. Where the prize is claimed in accordance with the relevant instructions, the prize will be dispatched by the Promotor to the winner, no later than 60 days after they claim the prize.
1.12. No responsibility will be accepted for incomplete, illegible, invalid or lost entries, or entries not received by the Promotor for any reason.
1.13. The Promoter will not be obliged to provide a prize to any winner, if that would breach applicable law.
1.14. In the event of any dispute, the Promoter's decision is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
1.15. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for the prize being lost or damaged during delivery, or delayed.
1.16. The Promoter shall have no liability to the winner or any third party for any inability of the winner to claim the prize or to take the full benefit of it as a result of these terms and conditions or for any other reason.
1.17. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
1.18. The Promoter reserves the right to modify or withdraw the Promotion at any time without prior notice.
1.19. The Promoter will process personal data as set out in Our privacy statement (rsc.org), and as set out in these terms and conditions.
1.20. By entering the prize draw, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
1.21. Employees of the Royal Society of Chemistry, or their associated companies, and employees of any agents or any third party directly associated with the administration of the prize draw are not eligible to participate.
1.22. These terms and conditions are governed by English law.
1.23. If any entrants to the prize draw wish to enter into court proceedings in relation to the prize draw, then they must do within the courts of England and Wales.
Making the winner’s details available
1.24. Details of the winners will be made available for up to six weeks after the closing date by contacting the Promotor via email here. The winners agree to have their name, county, and email address disclosed for this purpose.
1.25. If you object to this, please contact the Promotor via email here as soon as possible after submitting your entry and inform the Promotor about your objection. Please note, even if you object, the Promotor must make certain information available to the Advertising Standards Authority if the prize draw is subsequently challenged.
