This 1-day course is Day 3 of the Complete Hands-on GC & GC-MS course. Incorporating 50% theory and 50% practical in a lab environment within a small group size, you will gain both knowledge and hands-on experience of mass spectrometry together. There is also time to discuss any problems you are facing with GC_MS in your work.
You will be introduced to GC-MS by exploring the variety of components available for the mass spectrometer such as vacuum systems, types of ionisation, types of mass analysers, detectors and data analysis systems. The course then moves on to look at setting-up a single quadrupole MS method in both scan and SIM. You will then apply the theory in the lab, familiarising yourself with the MS system, creating GC-MS methods, performing injections, manipulating MS data and changing method parameters to see the effects.
At the end of the course you will have gained the knowledge and experience of operating a GC-MS for analysis, and experimenting with MS method parameters.
This course is suitable for those with knowledge of GC as this course will only cover the MSD not the GC. For beginners it is advisable to attend the Hands-On GC Theory and Methods course.
Additional infoIncludes: lunch and refreshments; hardcopy of the training manual in colour; any instrument parts & consumables used; certificate of attendance.
