This online course covers all the considerations and strategic steps for method development, troubleshooting and maintenance. The course material includes interactive problem-solving questions to allow you to implement the strategies learned.
The course guides you in how to plan and organise the method development process, with a number of recommended strategies, looking at the individual components of the HPLC & LC-MS system, including sampling techniques and identifying the parameters for optimisation, then detailing further. You will then implement the knowledge gained by working through practical method development case studies. Following this, we detail the steps of method validation and the benefits of accreditation.
The course takes a brief look at advanced techniques that can be used for complex samples including detector selectivity and specificity, UHPLC vs. HPLC (brief introduction to method transfer), chromatographic peak deconvolution using tandem mass spectrometry, multi-dimensional LC (LCxLC), on-line SPE and chemometrics.
The second part of the course looks at clean-up procedures for difficult samples along with the parts of the HPLC & MS system which require maintenance and how to identify when maintenance is required.
The course details the strategies and processes for HPLC & LC-MS troubleshooting and for each component of the system we identify the problem areas. Delegates can then put this knowledge to the test through practical exercises on troubleshooting chromatograms.
This module is taught live in a virtual classroom through interactive, instructor-led training with instrument parts and consumables shown and explained, case studies to work through and chromatograms to troubleshoot. Small group sizes with plenty of opportunities to ask questions through live Q&A.
This course is a total of 12 hours over 4 days.
This is a modular course, delegates can choose to attend all the modules or individual modules to focus on a particular area:
Module 9: Applied Method Development & Optimisation for HPLC & LC-MS
Module 10: An Introduction to Advanced Techniques in HPLC & LC-MS
Module 11: Applied HPLC & LC-MS Maintenance
Module 12: Applied Troubleshooting for HPLC & LC-MS
At the end of the course you will have in-depth knowledge of how to approach method development and validation. You will also have learned which areas of the instrument require maintenance and the logical steps in troubleshooting.
This course is for those who have reasonable experience in liquid chromatography or have attended the Practical Essentials of HPLC & LC-MS course.
