Following the hugely successful #EnvChem2020 event held online last July, we hereby announce our plans for #EnvChem2021, which will also be held online on Friday 25th June 2021.
#EnvChem2021 provides a forum for early career and established researchers working in environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology to share their latest research findings.
This meeting, organised by RSC Environmental Chemistry Group and the UK branch of the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, will comprise a programme of presentations from delegates who submit abstracts in the following themes:

Keynote presentations
Dr Helena Gomes: University of Nottingham, United Kingdom
Wasted opportunities - how to recover resources from wastes
Dr Zhugen Yang: Cranfield University, United Kingdom
Paper-based device enabling rapid diagnosis for wastewater-based epidemiology
Confirmed oral presentations
Albern Tan
Synergistic effects of wollastonite and calcium phosphate mineral seeds in alginate hydrogels on phosphate removal and control
Wojciech Mrozik
Gaseous hazards released from abused automotive lithium-ion batteries
Helena Rapp Wright
A year-long study and risk assessment of contaminants of emerging concern in a range of aquatic matrices in Ireland
Alex Tait
Investigating the impacts of iron nanoparticles and biostimulation on the chemical speciation and mobility of mercury in sediment and artificial ground water
Celeste Felion
Development of a colorimetric aptasensor for rapid monitoring of 17β-estradiol biodegradation
Marc Fadel
PM2.5 in two urban industrial sites in the East Mediterranean: chemical characterization and health risk assessment for metals
Borbála Szabó
The inter-individual variance as an information source in ecotoxicology
Creative Display Presentations
Creative Display Presentations will be made by presenting authors in parallel 15 minute zoom meetings hosted by a member of the conference organising committee. Delegates will be given the opportunity to visit parallel Creative Display Presentations in three time slots throughout the day. A very short (i.e. 1-2 minute) introduction to the Creative Display is encouraged to stimulate questions from delegates and discussion with the presenting author for the remainder of the 15 minute session.
When preparing your Creative Display Presentations, please feel free to be creative, bearing in mind the format of the presentation and that some delegates will access the conference via phones or tablets. As such, we recommend a minimum font size of 32 and a single display item (e.g. a single PowerPoint slide). Videos and animated content often do not display well over teleconferences. We strongly recommend that presenters test their Creative Display Presentations on the Zoom platform prior to the start of the conference.
