CChemConference 2022

Introduction
After our first successful dedicated conference all about Chartered Chemist (CChem) in 2021, we are pleased to announce it's back for 2022. Just like our first conference, this highly interactive and engaging online event will be a blend of focused learning sessions to help your career development and a celebration of your success. We will also be celebrating chemical science employers who have  recently gained Royal Society of Chemistry accredited status.

Programme details

Session 1: Evidencing ethical practice and working with integrity, and why it’s important for your career. Featuring a panel discussion where members from a range of sectors will discuss thier approach to addressing CChem attributes B1, B2, D1 and D3.

Panel discussion plus Q&A with:
  • Alexandra Hall, CChem CSci FRSC, Qualified Person, QP Quandry, member of PSB.
  • Dr Jake Surman, CChem MRSC, Nuclear regulator, Environment Agency.
  • Dr Ian Mabbett, CChem CSci FRSC, Associate Professor, Swansea University.

Session 2: How to use CChem to build your networks. We will hear from Chartered Chemist Dr Zoe Ayres about how she has developed her networks for career success.

Talks and breakout discussion groups with:
  • Dr Zoe Ayres CChem MRSC. Analytical scientist and Member of the Analytical Division Council and champion of mental health in science.
  • Laura Woodward and Sarah Salter RSC Careers team

Session 3: Celebration of awardees and accredited employers

Session 4: Mentoring for CChem. A refresher session on what mentoring for CChem involves, making the most of mentoring for your career and a chance to share best practice.

Talk and breakout discussion groups with:
  • Dr Liam-Abrahamsen-Mills CChem MRSC, Technology Manager, NNL and member of our pool of CChem mentors.
  • Jonelle Harvey CChem MRSC Professional Standards Specialist, RSC

This event is aimed at those thinking about becoming CChem, those going through the process, CChem holders and CChem mentors.

This event is suitable for PhD students, post doctoral researchers, chemists based in industry, education and in roles outside the laboratory.
