The evening will start at 6 PM with the RSC Mid-Southern Counties Local Section Annual General Meeting, with chocolate tasting starting at 6:30 PM. All participants will receive a chocolate tasting kit free of charge. This event will be hosted by Cocoa Runners. Please see below for more information. This is an in-person event that will run in the School of Chemistry at the University of Southampton. Children are welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult.
Cocoa Runners invite you to an evening of great eating, entertainment and education. An interactive virtual session to discover and explore the amazing world of craft chocolate.
Chocolate has more varieties of flavour, taste and texture than just about any other foodstuff or drink (including wine) on the planet.
Everyone loves chocolate; from any age, any geography, any interest. So we’ve designed a craft chocolate tasting that has both universal appeal and provides a unique way to both have fun, while also learning about flavour and how to taste.
You’ll taste ten different craft chocolates, and we use these to explore chocolate's history, geography and science. And, of course, we'll dive into the depth and complexity that chocolate's flavour offers when it's savoured.
Your host for the evening will be one of Cocoa Runners' craft chocolate experts. The team at Cocoa Runners are dedicated to tasting and curating the world's greatest chocolate, and have experience in sharing their insights with audiences all over the world.
When we get into the session, our host will take you on a tour of craft chocolate, through its winding curious history, across its diverse geography and into its fascinating science.
We will also spend some time discussing the important issues in the chocolate world, and how you can be a more ethical and sustainable chocolate enthusiast.
We'll taste a huge diversity of chocolates types, including dark, milk and white bars, and we'll explore how to savour them.
For any vegans who want to join in, there's also an alternative tasting kit, which replaces the dairy bars with plant-based alternatives; so everyone can be included.
Throughout the session, you'll be able to interact with the session using a virtual tool called Menti. You'll be able to share your thoughts about the chocolate flavours, as well as engage with Q&A.
We hope you'll join us!
