Nyholm Prize winner tour in India, Royal Society of Chemistry in collaboration with Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, Maharashtra

Introduction
The Nyholm Prize for Education is an award presented by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) named after Sir Derek Nyholm, a prominent figure in chemistry education. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the individuals who have promoted chemistry education at any level, from schools to universities and beyond and have demonstrated exceptional innovation and leadership.

In 2023, Nyholm prize for education was awarded to Professor Savita Ladage, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) for enthusiastically advocating the importance of chemical education, through mentoring chemistry educators and initiating teacher and student programs that promote chemistry education in India.

About the workshop:
Topic: Exploring Alternative Approaches for Chemistry Lab Education

The workshop will explore some of the alternative approaches such as pre-lab/lab/post-lab or inquiry/investigatory based, aimed at generating opportunities for deeper engagement and learning in the chemistry lab education at undergraduate level. The workshop will engage participants with hands on experiences about the experimental modules developed using the above alternative approaches. The discussion sessions will help to reflect on these alternative approaches and how the same can be adapted as part of existing chemistry lab education.

Eligibility and duration of the workshop
Eligibility criteria for attendees:
Teachers teaching chemistry at B.Sc or integrated M.Sc in university/college systems
(We have limited seats for each workshop, so first come first basis)

Duration:
One day program from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm

What is covered for every participant:
-    Certificate of participation
-    Lunch and refreshment
-    Lab facility and materials will be provided

Each participant must take care of their own travel and stay if visiting from outstation. Local participants also need to make their own travel arrangements.
