What is ResearchGate?
Since 2008, ResearchGate has been on a mission to connect the world of science and make research open to all. This professional network makes it easy for scientists to connect with peers, share work, track publication statistics, and discover and access the latest articles.
ResearchGate is the most visited platform in science, with a growing community of 25 million researchers. So, what does our new partnership with them mean for you?
The minds at ResearchGate have a similar vision to the Royal Society of Chemistry. They are interested in empowering you to do your best work, advance your field, and like us, help you make the world a better place. It can help you explore open access content more easily and forge relationships with the 1.5 million chemists on ResearchGate. Read on to learn more.
What does our partnership look like?
In case you haven’t heard, the Royal Society of Chemistry is transitioning to become a fully open access publisher within the next five years. We are truly committed to an open future, where everyone in the world can access the incredible research from our community.
Part of this commitment involves making sure that you have maximum access to our content, including the 68,000 open access articles we have published so far. ResearchGate is a key part of facilitating this ease of access globally. Our new partnership makes all version-of-record content from eight Royal Society of Chemistry journals available on a ResearchGate profile. Here, you can easily access new research and discover more from each title.
How can our partnership with ResearchGate empower you?
Influence a broader audience
If you have published in one of the above journals, or you are thinking of doing so soon, then your article will automatically be added to your profile, where it can be discovered, read and cited by over 25 million scientists on ResearchGate. Our partnership accelerates your potential to make a more significant impact on the world. It can help you reach a wider audience, perhaps outside of your typical readership, and gain the recognition you deserve. We want to empower you to make a difference.
Connect, share, collaborate
ResearchGate is a thriving platform because it drives social connections and real conversations on scientific findings. You can directly message any author with your questions through their ResearchGate profile, share and recommend articles with your colleagues. There is a Q&A section where you can answer any questions from your readers related to your own work. These features remove any barriers to research and authors, and help readers feel informed and connected. Who can predict the collaborations that will come from this open communication?
Get data on readership
After publishing an article, it can be difficult to know straight away how well it is received. ResearchGate gives you data on readership, including the demographics of your readers (their country, institution and seniority level), and how many people are following you and recommending your work. They remove the hassle of seeking this information yourself and deliver it in a digestible format. These insights can lead to new collaboration opportunities with researchers outside your network.
Find and save your next read
It's easy to find new research on ResearchGate through your home feed or search bar and add it to your ‘saved list’ for a time that suits you. You can directly read full-text articles on this platform, so you don’t need to jump to a different website or log in elsewhere. ResearchGate gives you the access and time to do it all in one place, and in doing so, removes barriers to publications and frustration for readers.
Other ways we support you
We belong to the scientific community, championing you and your research every step of the way. If you have questions about open access, visit our open access hub, where we explain everything from choosing a journal, the submission process, licensing, fees, discounts and waivers.
You can also find further help on preparing, publishing and promoting your article at the author hub.
