Our Open Access Books Policy
Open Access is at the core of our mission to help the chemical sciences make the world a better place. One where everyone can access and benefit from knowledge and discoveries – including researchers, funders, policymakers and the general public.
When authors or volume editors have access to funding for a book processing charge, we will publish a digital edition of the book under a Creative Commons licence, making it available to everyone through our books platform, as well the Open Library of Open Access Books (OAPEN) and the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB). Other digital versions and the print edition will be available to purchase.
We are also pleased to offer open access to individual chapters when contributing authors are mandated by their funding body.
Open access books undergo the same peer-review process and follow the commitment to author care and high production standards we hold for non-open access books. Author copyright is maintained in accordance with our standard book agreements, ensuring our books reach the widest possible audience and meet funders’ mandates.
