Royal Society of Chemistry at Burlington House a finalist for the London Venue & Catering Awards’ Best Historic Venue

The Royal Society of Chemistry at Burlington House has been shortlisted for Best Historic Venue in this year’s London Venue & Catering Awards 2023.

Each year, these awards, produced by GNC Events, recognise the top event businesses around the city pioneering in their field.

Striking the balance between ensuring the best quality offerings for our clients while retaining the building's unique historic charm has always been a challenge we continue to embrace. Our deep history is something that we have always believed helps separate us from other London venues and is also one of the many reasons so many of our clients return to us for repeat events.

Our commitment to sustainability, including our appointment of Houston & Hawkes – the UK’s first B Corp certified contract caterer, along with our own commitment to net zero has been one of several highlights for our historic venue this year. We have also invested heavily in our own brand and facilities, offering updated hybrid AV options across all our event spaces, as well as creating a new venue guide alongside an updated website to better showcase our offerings for event planners when researching.

Accessibility has been and continues to be especially important to us, both from an operational and a financial standpoint. With rising costs continuing to hit the industry hard, we continue to benchmark our prices yearly and offer competitive off-peak rates, as well as not imposing minimum numbers for catering.

On being shortlisted for this accolade, our venue manager, Jess Gallagher said: “This has been a really good year for us so it’s great for this to be recognised in a category that highlights one of our key USPs – our rich history and unique offering. London is home to some of the country’s most iconic and historic buildings, so to be highlighted among the best is very special to us.”

The winner of Best Historic Venue will be announced on 14 November 2023 at City Central at the HAC. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed on the night!
