Top wedding trends for 2025 that you need to know
With 2025 finally here, a new year means a year full of exciting wedding trends ahead. But what can wedding planners and couples expect when looking to create an ideal wedding? We spoke to our very own Jessica Gallagher, Venue and Hospitality Manager at the Royal Society of Chemistry at Burlington House, for her insights for the year ahead.
As Venue & Hospitality Manager here at the Royal Society of Chemistry at Burlington House, I receive hundreds of requests from both wedding planners and couples looking to get married. While every request is unique, these requests combined with our research have given me a good overview of what to expect when it comes to wedding trends in 2025.
Here I pick out a few of those that are looking to be the most prevalent this year:
More Intimate Gatherings
2024 showed that bigger isn’t always better, and this is looking to become an even more prevalent wedding trend in 2025. With more people looking to celebrate more intimately with loved ones and the continued challenges of the cost of living also making it a more attractive option, intimate gatherings are set to become even more prevalent in 2025.
Size and number of guests are always some of the first and most important considerations when it comes to planning a wedding, so balancing a stunning wedding venue with the correct amount of space will be a careful balancing act for many. Yet those who can get the balance right can be sure to enjoy a stunning and intimate wedding with loved ones.
New Technology
Technology has always played a vital role in weddings, but much of the technology has become a checklist rather than experimentation – think microphones, speakers etc. That said, 2025 is looking to be the year when people are looking to embrace new technology.
This is particularly true with people looking to make full use of the different technology wedding venues can offer their guests. One such example is people looking for hybrid capabilities for their wedding, such as allowing guests unable to attend physically to still be part of the experience virtually.
This is becoming an increasingly popular way to still allow loved ones to take part in the big day if they are unable to attend, such as for those who live abroad or perhaps have elderly relatives where attending a whole day event may prove difficult.
Eco-friendly Venues
Different people will have different priorities when it comes to choosing their ideal wedding venue but one thing that is increasingly becoming more important for people is the sustainability credentials of the venue in question. This is because people are increasingly looking to ensure their wedding not only looks good – but does good too.
This increasingly popular wedding trend means prioritising sustainability has become more important than ever before – something that myself and the team have been focusing on even more recently with us becoming ECOsmart accredited, as well as winning the bronze award for Best Historic Venue at the London Venue & Catering Awards.
Food and Drink
Food and drink are an everchanging area when it comes to wedding trends, yet this year looks to shake things up in several ways.
With sustainable weddings becoming more popular, this has a knock-on effect when it comes to catering, with people looking for options that are locally sourced.
Elsewhere, expect people to embrace the more social side of a wedding and move away from the traditional sit-down meal, with choices such as wedding food stations and street food becoming increasingly popular.
