RSC Representative in Chile
Gabriela Valdebenito Zenteno
I graduated with a first degree in Chemistry from University of Chile and obtained a Master degree in Forensic Science from Strathclyde University (Scotland). For the last four years I have specialized in working in the field of mass spectrometry.
Since September of 2013 I am the co founder of the Colegio Chileno de Químicos A.G. , a gremial association for the Chilean professional chemists.
Their main objectives are:
- to promote training, improvement, rationalization, development and protection of the exercise of the profession of Chemist
- to position the chemist at a national level
- to serve the society as an advisory body and consultant regarding matters related to the professional practice
- to improve the teaching of chemistry at all levels of education.
Dr Nicole Faure
I am a Biochemical Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV, Chile) with a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the University of Glasgow (UK) obtained in 2016.
Since I was an undergraduate student at PUCV I had been working with enzymes. My doctoral thesis was focused in the study of immobilised enzymes at a molecular level by solution- and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in a joint research with the University of Strathclyde (WestCHEM).
During my doctoral studies I participated in several RSC local sections and meetings in the UK that were very beneficial for my career. I want to extend this experience to Chile and help to grow a professional community with a common interest: chemistry.
If you have any suggestion, question or idea, do not hesitate in contact me. I will be more than happy to help.
