Highlights from the Chemical Biology Interface Community Symposium
In 2023, the event was held in Burlington House, with talks streamed online.
This Symposium is an annual meeting that showcases the state of the art in chemical biology, bringing together the wider community with leading national and international experts in the field. The programme seeks to explore all aspects of chemical biology and highlight the wider scope and impact of the field. Additional aims of the event are to stimulate research collaboration, networking, and engagement within the chemical biology community, as well as with those in related disciplines.
The scientific programme saw six plenary lectures, including talks from three of our 2022 RSC Prize winners (Marius Clore, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, United States; Claire Eyers, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom; and Emily Flashman, University of Oxford, United Kingdom) and covered a breadth of chemical biology and its applications.
Posters were presented in person, and prizes were awarded to three presenters by the journal RSC Chemical Biology. Delegates enjoyed networking, opportunities to meet leading scientists in the field and to discuss their research with other scientists. The symposium also offered a chance to recognise the contributions of Professor Ali Tavassoli to the Chemistry Biology Interface Community. Professor Tavassoli stepped down as President of the CBIC in July 2023 and chaired the very first scientific committee when the Chemical Biology Symposium was established in 2016.
