Trevor Gauntlett
PhD CChem MRSC
Trevor Gauntlett has over 30 years’ postdoctoral experience, mainly in blue chip oil and chemicals companies. He has been an independent consultant since 2016. He has extensive experience of Procurement, Supply Chain and Product Management through his membership over 15 years of a global team covering purchases worth over 1.5 billion dollars per annum. This experience provides the basis for the core of his consulting activities: supporting the business development activities of Chemicals companies wishing to sell their products as additives into Lubricants and Greases or to Lubricants and Grease manufacturers on making procurement decisions.
He is a regular commentator on the Lubricants business (value approximately US$150 billion p.a.) through articles in industry magazines, podcasts, and conference presentations. In 2023 he has supported clients with inputs on decarbonisation and the many facets of sustainability, including products, processes, staff recruitment and knowledge retention.
He managed a team that provided HSE support to the largest Lubricants business in the world; anticipating and supplying data that met and exceeded customer expectations, which were themselves supplementary to national requirements. This included leading the dialogue with suppliers about understanding and mitigating the business impacts of new or modified legislation globally. He also led the process development and implementation for REACH and GHS compliance; collaborating with Product Stewardship to ensure the correct and timely communication of HSE information to customers, OEMs and regulatory authorities.
Trevor also managed the company’s formulary and Lubricants Quality System (Big Data), including carving out data to support a major divestment, and more recently has worked with AI companies developing their offer into the Lubricants industry.
