William Henry Whewell CChem MPhil FRSC
1939 - 2018
We sadly lost William or Bill , as he preferred, to pneumonia with underlying prostate cancer , on 19 th November 2018.
He was a much loved husband, dad and Grandad to his seven Granddaughters.
We all miss him so much.
Bill spent his first years working for Albright and Wilson in research, followed by six years working for ICI in their research department.
The majority of Bills career, however, was spent lecturing in Chemistry at Halton College in Widnes where he enjoyed 31 years, eventually retiring in 1998.
Following his retirement, he spent his time " idling about" as he would say, spending time with his family, traveling around Europe, gardening, feeding the birds, walking the dog.
He was a member of the RSC since 1964 and loved his chosen field of expertise until the end.
He was a good man who led a good life.
