Royal Society of Chemistry journals keep on making a big impact

The Royal Society of Chemistry's journals have proven their outstanding excellence once again, with the publication of the latest Impact Factors (IF) report from Thomson Reuters. 

Six out of the top 20 multidisciplinary chemistry journals are published by the Royal Society of Chemistry - no publisher has more.

Two of our journals came top in their categories: Energy & Environmental Science remains the top environmental sciences journal with an impact factor of 15.490 and Natural Product Reports came out on top in the medicinal chemistry category with an impact factor of 10.715.

The report also shows that three of our journals have increased their impact factors by more than 20 per cent:

• Chemical Society Reviews (up 22 per cent to 30.425)
• Catalysis Science & Technology (up 27 per cent to 4.760
• Energy & Environmental Science (up 33 per cent to 15.490) 

 In total, a third of our journals have an impact factor above 5.000 and three quarters of them are in the top 25 per cent of their ISI categories.

Stephen Hawthorne, the Royal Society of Chemistry's Executive Director of Publishing, said: "I'm delighted that our journals are continuing to lead the way in delivering high-quality chemistry content. We want to help the world's researchers access the best chemical information and share the best ideas and this year's impact factors demonstrate that we are achieving that.

"Another fantastic result is that our flagship journal, Chemical Science - which we recently announced will be going Gold open access from 2015 - has increased its impact factor to 8.601, making it the world's first high-quality open access chemistry journal."
