Hong Kong Baptist University becomes first university in China to sign a Read & Publish agreement with the Royal Society of Chemistry
Hong Kong Baptist University has signed a groundbreaking Read & Publish licensing agreement with the Royal Society of Chemistry. This means that authors from the university are now able to publish Open Access in Royal Society of Chemistry journals, for no additional fee, and also have access to read the full range of academic content from these journals.
The agreement will run from 1 January 2023, for three years until 31 December 2025. All eligible articles from Hong Kong Baptist University published by the RSC during that time period will be publicly available to read.
Christopher Chan, University Librarian at Hong Kong Baptist University commented: "We are delighted to be the first university library in China to agree a Read & Publish deal with the Royal Society of Chemistry. Raising the visibility of Hong Kong Baptist University’s research output through developing an open access culture is a strategic priority for the library, and we believe that agreements of this nature have an important role to play in achieving this goal."
Royal Society of Chemistry Chief Operating Officer, Paul Lewis, said: "Our Read & Publish agreements form a key part of our commitment to ensuring that chemical science research is as accessible as possible to researchers everywhere. I’m proud to be entering into this new agreement with Hong Kong Baptist University – making them part of our growing community of signatories to Read & Publish agreements around the world, and ensuring that the innovative research carried out by the university is available for anyone to read at no cost."
