UK Government and EU Commission must swiftly finalise UK Horizon Europe association
Royal Society of Chemistry signs joint statement calling for continued push for UK association to EU research programmes
We have joined partners across the UK, Irish and wider European research and innovation sector to urge the UK Government and EU Commission to get association to Horizon Europe and other EU research programmes over the line following the positive steps made on the Windsor Framework earlier this week.
Royal Society of Chemistry CEO, Dr Helen Pain said: "Now that the political barriers have been removed, we urge the UK Government and EU Commission to secure the UK’s association to Horizon Europe as swiftly as possible, to enable fruitful chemical sciences collaborations and achieve the best outcome for research and innovation in the UK and in Europe."
The joint statement highlights the importance of the UK’s association to Horizon Europe and other EU research programmes for international collaboration and to tackle global challenges such as climate change and health.

We will continue to make the case to the UK Government and Parliament for UK association to Horizon Europe, whilst being mindful of both the economic and financial situation and the expected impacts of inflation on the research base, as well as the rest of the economy.
