Case Western Reserve University latest US institution to sign Open Access deal with RSC
The Royal Society of Chemistry is pleased to announce a new Open Access (OA) partnership with Case Western Reserve University that will run until 2026.
The uncapped deal supports our push towards a fully OA future by expanding our pool of global partners, which exceeds more than 1,300 institutions around the world.
This latest agreement takes the total number of American partner organisations with which we have Read and Publish agreements to 102, and will see researchers at Case Western Reserve provided greater access to RSC titles than ever before. It also reiterates our commitment to OA, with the RSC having already pledged to make all our fully-owned titles OA by 2028.
David Creek, from the RSC US sales team, regards the unlimited agreement as an important addition to our collection of collaborations in the region and one that furthers our organisational OA goals.
"Case Western Reserve University is a highly regarded, high research activity institution and has been a long-time partner with the RSC," he said. "We are proud not only to be able to increase the access of RSC Journals to the students and faculty, but also to provide unlimited publishing support – allowing for more of their high-quality research to be disseminated across the globe, without a barrier to access. Open Access continues to grow in the US, and we are excited to begin this journey with Case Western Reserve."
Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of the leading private research institutions in the United States and has already signed a number of other OA agreements. This deal is just the latest example of its commitment to make research available to new audiences.
Karen Caputo, Scholarly Communication & Copyright Librarian, added: “We are excited to expand support for CWRU authors to publish open access, ensuring their research is available to a wider international audience. Initiatives like Scholarly Commons @CWRU, the university's institutional repository, and valued partnerships with organisations sharing similar goals, like the RSC, demonstrate the library's dedication to open access at CWRU and its commitment to assisting authors throughout the publishing process.”
