Who will join Lord Vallance and other esteemed science leaders as RSC Honorary Fellows?
Time is running out for members to submit their nominations as the Royal Society of Chemistry gears up to select its next batch of Honorary Fellows.
The 13 September deadline is drawing ever closer, and our Nominations Committee already has a host of names to choose from for one of chemistry’s biggest accolades.
We want to ensure the next group of fellows represents the diversity that the chemical sciences have to offer and add to the society’s rich history.
Among the six most recent individuals to the 117-strong list of Honorary Fellows was former UK Chief Scientific Officer Patrick Vallance (pictured above receiving his knighthood in 2022), who has since been appointed to the House of Lords and named Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation by the new Labour Government.
Previous honourees include titans of industry, world-leading academics and notable contributors from other fields who have advanced the cause of the chemical sciences.
Professor Jeremy Sanders is an RSC Trustee and member of our Nominations Committee. He said: “Every year the RSC awards Honorary Fellowships to a few individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the chemical science community and to society through their research, innovation, enterprise or public service.
"They can provide inspiration through their life or work and may also be able to advocate for chemistry and the RSC. The RSC is asking/needs you to nominate individuals from as wide a range of backgrounds and interests as possible so that the Nominations Committee can select some truly exceptional people.”
Our Nominations Committee will make its final recommendation to the Board of Trustees shortly after the deadline so don’t delay and risk missing your chance to have your say.
