30 under 30 recognition for chemistry lecturer
Dr Philippe Wilson, researcher and lecturer at De Montfort University Leicester, and Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, has been named as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Europe.
The list features 300 young people who are leading innovators in 10 fields, including technology, science & healthcare, and law & policy.
Philippe was chosen for the science & healthcare category, in recognition of his research in computational biochemistry. His work could change the way blood samples are used, in order to provide early warning signs of diseases such as cancer or cardiovascular issues.
"My group is currently working on a spectrum of projects", he says, "from validation of new point-of care-biofluid analysis devices, the study of biomineralisation in eggshells, to the development of robust computational programs and algorithms for the simulation of biological systems."
The Forbes 30 Under 30 are selected from a shortlist by judges who are leaders in their industry. They are judged on leadership and disruption; entrepreneurial mind-set and results; and the likelihood of changing their field over the next half-century.
Philippe says: "I was thrilled to have been named in the prestigious list, which will involve travelling to Tel Aviv and Amsterdam – among others – to share my research and strategy."
Philippe has been invited to present at the inaugural Under 30 Summit Europe in Amsterdam in September, and will also attend the International Under 30 Conference in Tel Aviv later this year.
