************************************************************************** * * * HBtools.xla 1.4 * * * ************************************************************************** *Introduction HBtools was developed to support projects on recovery and extraction modelling as part of the 2000-2003 Valid Analytical Measurement (VAM) programme. The VAM programme is carried out by LGC under contract to the National Measurement System Directorate of the UK department of Trade and industry. This version of HBtools is provided free for individual or research use and is without any warranty of any kind. The About.. box available from the HBtools menu provides a website URL which, if clicked, will open the VAM website for more information about the VAM programme. In addition, it provides access to any updated versions of HBtools. *Installing the HBtools add-in To make the HBtools functions available: 1 Copy the files HBtools.xla and HBtools.hlp (executable and Help files respectively) to a directory of your choice. 2 In MS Excel, add the Add-In to Excel's list. You may need to refer to Excel's Help system; for Excel 97, the procedure is: - Choose Tools, Add-ins to display the Add-Ins dialogue box. - Click Browse and navigate to your copy of HBtools.xla - Click Open. Note: In some versions of Windows, you will be asked if you want to copy the add-in to the 'Library'. DO NOT do so, as the help files will not be copied with the add-in. 3 The HBtools add-in should appear in the list of add-ins. Make sure the check box next to its entry is selected. The add-in will now load automatically when you start Excel. The add-in will create a new menu entry, HBTools, on the main Excel menu bar. The menu includes a link to the help file via the About... box. If that is not found, or if it is not found on pressing a Help button on a later dialogue box Windows will ask you to find it; simply browse to the directory you installed the HBtools files in. After that, windows will be able to find the file by itself. The help file contains all the instructions for using the application. Use the Contents button to browse through the help system. Hitting Find will cause a full-text index to be generated in the usual way.
