A starburst porphyrin polymer: a first generation dendrimer

Tyler Norsten and Neil Branda

Chem. Commun., 1998, 1257

Due to an oversight, the following references were not cited in the original communication: D. L. Officer, A. K. Burrell and D. C. W. Reid, Chem. Commun., 1996, 1657. R. W. Wagner, T. E. Johnson and J. S. Lindsey, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 1996, 118, 11166-11180. These two papers describe prior examples of pentaporphyrin arrays with similar structures to that published in the current communication. However, in both cases, significant synthetic modifications would be required to continue the starburst polymeric cycle and allow them to be rigidly defined as dendrimers. The authors would at this time like to include them in the reference list pertaining to the syntheses of porphyrin arrays (reference 2).
