Chem. Commun., 2000, 1045. Amendment published 15th May 2001

Following the publication of this paper, the attention of the authors was drawn to the possibility that the structure of complex 1 was incorrect. It was remarked that the unit cell dimensions of compound 1 are identical with those for compound RuHCl(N2)(PPri3)2 published by group of K. G. Caulton earlier in 2000.1 A re-analysis of the crystallographic data for structure 1 indeed showed this to be the case. The monohydride 1 described in Scheme 1 of the original publication was re-crystallized under nitrogen and the crystals kept under nitrogen until X-ray analysis was carried out. The correct crystallographic CIF files corresponding to structures 1, 1D and 1Cy have been deposited with the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Center, and entry CCDC 182/1627 has therefore been updated. The correct structure of complex 1 described in Scheme 1 is thought to be the halide bridged dimer described by the Caulton group.1
