The authors wish to apologise for directly copying sections of their manuscript published in J. Mater. Chem. B from those of A. Merkoçi’s Review article, Adv. Mater., 2012, 24, 3298–3308. The copied text appears in the J. Mater. Chem. B manuscript in the Results and discussion section, second paragraph, second sentence to sixth sentence and the eighth sentence. The text was also not cited as originating from the Adv. Mater. Review article.


The Royal Society of Chemistry apologises for these errors and any consequent inconvenience to authors and readers.
