The event starts at 7.00pm and there will be refreshments served from 6.30pm and a buffet supper at 8.00pm.
Celebrating the Royal Society of Chemistry’s 175th Anniversary we are delighted that Dr Jamie Gallagher from the University of Glasgow will deliver the keynote talk.
Public Attitudes to Chemistry
This year marks the 175th anniversary of the Royal Society of Chemistry and to celebrate many of us will leave the lab, office or library to share our work to intrigue, inspire and connect with the public. But who are the public? What do they think of us and our profession? How do we connect with them? Join Dr Jamie Gallagher as he unpicks the surprising results of the RSC's 'Public Attitudes to Chemistry' research. The talk will look at new ways of engaging people outside the lab and show how it can strengthen: your research, your career and public perception.
Dr Jamie Gallagher is an award winning scientist and science communicator. Jamie was recognised as one of the RSC's "175 Faces of Chemistry" and as one of the "UK's 100 leading practising scientists" by the Science Council. He is currently the Public Engagement Officer for the University of Glasgow as well as touring the UK and abroad with self-developed science shows as well as having appeared on national TV and radio.
This is a free event and places are likely to be booked up fast so if you would like to reserve a place please contact Wayne Carter via e-mail or by telephone on 07402 092969.
