Nick Gudde studied Chemical Physics at the University of Bristol, then did his PhD on surface chemistry at the Department of Physical Chemistry, Cambridge University. His early career focused on industrial catalysis including R&D roles with the UKAEA and Johnson-Matthey. He then moved to BP Oil with line-management and operational support roles involving refinery processes such as catalytic cracking and hydrotreating. He then ran various R&D projects for BP developing new technologies for carbon mitigation and clean transport fuels; this included the commercialisation of a new catalyst and a new fuel.
Nick then took a more general role as Technology Advisor supporting commercial business development groups in BP Refining & Marketing, mainly about biofuels and advanced fuels. He was also part-time Science Advisor to the BP Chief Scientist. Nick retired from BP in 2016, but continues his involvement in science and technology. He is a volunteer for the Royal Society of Chemistry (former Interest Group Secretary; Divisional Council member), for Surrey Wildlife Trust and for the Science Museum. Nick will be sharing his career story, and highlighting his tips for a successful career.
From 3 - 5 of October we will be running a number of live webinars hosted on Go To Webinar. Please look at event information for other webinars you might want to register for.
