Donaghmore: Soap and Suds

20 February 2017 20:00-21:30, Donaghmore, United Kingdom

Introduction
From the 1870s until closing in the 1950s, Brown’s Soap Factory and the brands of household detergents and toiletries it produced became names which were commonplace in homes all over the UK and Republic of Ireland. Patricia Bogue from Donaghmore Historical Society will outline the story of Brown Soap Factory and Dermot Hanna of the Royal Society of Chemistry will describe the chemistry behind soap making.
