The RSC Chemical Biology and Bio-Organic Group would like to invite those involved in any aspect of chemical biology and bio-organic chemistry research to register for a one day meeting to be held on Thursday May 25th, 2017 at the University of Glasgow.
Postgraduate Speakers
Sean O’ Byrne (University of Glasgow)
‘Development of Novel Delivery Vehicles for Anti-Parasitic Drug Delivery’
Giacomo Padroni (University of Strathclyde)
‘Expanding the DNA Binding Repertoire of Hairpin Polyamides Containing Thiazole Units’
Georgina Girt (University of Leicester)
‘Design, Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Lipopeptidomimetic Teixobactin Analogues’
Aisling Minard (University of Leeds)
‘Understanding the Mode-of-Action of TRPC4/5 Ion Channel Inhibitors’
Caitlin Mooney (Durham University)
‘Perfluoro-Heteroaromatic Applications in Peptide Conjugation and Modification’
Catrin Sohrabi (University of Southampton)
‘A Droplet Microfulidics Platform for Generating and Screening Cyclic Peptide Libraries of Over a Hundred Million Members’
Jessica Clavadetscher (University of Edinburgh)
‘Copper Catalysis in Living Systems and in situ Drug Synthesis’
Pamela Banana-Dube (University of Warwick)
‘Investigation of a Polyprenyl Phosphomannose Synthase Involved in Bacterial Protein Mannosylation’
The symposium will conclude with a plenary lecture from Professor Andrew Wilson (University of Leeds) titled 'Adventures in Non-Covalent Chemistry: From Self-Assembly to Protein Surface Recognition and Beyond'
Abstracts for poster presentations are welcome from postgraduate students. Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations. The symposium will conclude with a plenary lecture.
Registration is on-line and costs £15. Abstracts should be prepared using the template and sent by email to Dr Andrew Jamieson. The organisers anticipate that travel bursaries will be available to student RSC members presenting at the symposium.
