Introduction

An ideal end to a day at the 'Science Spectacular' hands-on science festival event in Whitworth Hall and Manchester Museum, in The University of Manchester precinct of Oxford Road. That event runs for drop-in at any time between 11 am and 4pm, i.e. until the start of the Lecture, 'Quantum of Science', in the Chemistry Building just along Brunswick Street. There you will experience the classic Flash and bang chemical demonstrations, but enhanced with some live spectroscopy and discussion of quantum behaviour, rooted in the wavelike nature of electrons.
