Pioneers of Science: Josiah Wedgewood - Science meets ceramics.

30 November 2017 19:00-20:30, Belfast, United Kingdom

Introduction
Dr John Hudson, Chair of the Historical Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry, will outline the life and work of Josiah Wedgwood, illustrated with examples of some of his more famous products. But Wedgwood was also a scientist, being elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and publishing five papers in the society’s Philosophical Transactions. Dr Hudson makes the case that Wedgwood’s success as a potter was in no small part due to his ability as a scientist and the careful experimental approach that he adopted in perfecting his wares.
