1st International Symposium on Functional Nanomaterials

10 - 11 September 2009, Dublin, Ireland

Introduction
This Symposium will bring together a broad range of academics from China, Australia, the USA and Europe. The subject of nanomaterials science has gained considerable interest in recent years due to the potential advantages offered by low-dimensional, high surface area components over existing systems. Speakers have been chosen from multidisciplinary backgrounds, encompassing physics, biology and chemistry. This reflects the diversity of interest in nanomaterials research. Nanomaterials are already emerging as key components in a number of lucrative markets such as healthcare, automotive, semiconductor and telecommunications industries. New materials are being sought that will enable miniaturised components to be developed with reduced cost, rapid response times and a decrease in power consumption. The Symposium will showcase some of the exciting research being done in this area.
