The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (German Chemical Society – GDCh) is the largest chemical society in continental Europe numbering some 30,000 members from science, industry, public authorities and independent activity. Every two years the GDCh organizes the GDCh Science Forum Chemistry (abbreviated WiFo). WiFo 2021, at which chemistry in its entirety presents itself as an integrative science discipline, covering all aspects of chemistry particularly with focus on synthesis an catalysis, materials, resources and the environment, life sciences, analytical chemistry, theoretical chemistry and teaching chemistry. "Chemists create solutions" was chosen as motto for this year's event in order to focus on the crucial role of chemists in solving societal challenges.
