The Royal Society of Chemistry’s team of career and professional development advisers aren’t able to visit Newcastle as planned due to Covid-19. Instead, the team is offering free one-to-one, confidential consultations for members via video (Skype / Zoom) or phone.
If this date doesn't work for you then please search our events pages for an alternative date, or contact the Careers team to arrange a flexible careers consultation (careers@rsc.org).
Your 45-minute consultation with one of our career and professional development advisers will be tailored to your career stage and could include:
*guidance on how to manage your career and a review of your career so far
*help planning your next steps amidst uncertainty
*advice and support if you’re facing redundancy, are unemployed or preparing for retirement
*advice on making a career change or taking a break
*strategies for job searching, including CV writing and interview techniques
*suggestions for networking, including maximising your LinkedIn profile and membership
*how to effectively use Professional Development tools
Here's what some members recently said about their consultation:
"I am not currently looking for work but it was helpful to have the opportunity to thoughtfully consider possible options to further my career and run ideas past someone."
"After undertaking a mock interview with one of the careers advisers, I felt the advice and encouragement she gave me helped me secure an interview ... and I was offered the job!"
These sessions are available to our Associate members (AMRSC), Members (MRSC) and Fellows (FRSC). If you are unsure about your membership category and what support is available, then please contact the Career Management team or visit http://www.rsc.org/careers. We recommend those currently studying at the undergraduate level access their university careers service in the first instance.
