RSC Desktop Seminar Lectureship Series with Journal of Materials Chemistry A, B & C (Qiang Zhang)

11 March 2021, Online

Introduction
9:00 GMT 17:00 CST 18:00 KST

Welcome to the latest RSC Desktop Seminar Lectureship, sponsored by Journal of Materials Chemistry A, B & C

The Royal Society of Chemistry is delighted to announce our inaugural free, online-only RSC Desktop Seminar Lectureship Series, featuring virtual talks by our recent journal lectureship winners. Each session will include an introductory talk by a journal board member as well as the lectureship winner. The RSC Desktop Seminar Lectureship Series is an effort to not only replace in-person research seminars during the current pandemic situation but to also expand access for researchers around the world looking to connect to some of the leading minds in the chemical sciences.

This seminar will feature our 2019 Journal of Materials Chemistry Lectureship Winner, Qiang Zhang, and our Journal of Materials Chemistry A and Materials Advances Associate Editor, Kisuk Kang, who will talk about their latest research

This seminar will allow researchers of all professional levels to connect, share ideas and ask questions.

Speakers
Qiang Zhang, Tsinghua University, China

Prof. Qiang Zhang is a full professor at Tsinghua University. He obtained his Ph.D. in chemical engineering (2009) from Tsinghua University, China, and subsequently held Research Associate/Postdoc Research Fellow positions in the Case Western Reserve University, USA, and Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, Germany. He held the Newton Advanced Fellowship from Royal Society, UK and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is selected as highly cited researchers at 2017-2020 by Clarivate Analytics. His current research interests are advanced energy materials, including dendrite-free lithium metal anode, lithium sulfur batteries, and electrocatalysis, especially the structure design and full demonstration of advanced energy materials in working devices. His h-index is 105 now. He is associate editor of J Energy Chem and Energy Storage Mater. He is sitting on the advisory board of J Mater Chem A, Chem Commun, Matter, Adv Funct Mater, and so on.

Kisuk Kang, Seoul National University, South Korea

Prof. Kisuk Kang is a professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Seoul National University, and an associate dean of college of engineering. He received his bachelor degree from Seoul National University and Ph. D from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). After the postdoctoral training at MIT, he joined Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) as an assistant professor in 2007. In 2011, he moved to Seoul National University (SNU). His research lab at SNU focuses on developing new materials for LIB, post-Li battery chemistries such as Na, Mg batteries and metal-air batteries using combined experiments and first-principles calculations. His work has been cited more than 32,000 times (H-index of 92 as of 2021), which made him selected as Highly Cited Researchers in 2018, 2019 and 2020. He was awarded with inaugural Energy and Environmental Lectureship Award from Royal Society of Chemistry (2013), Excellence in Research Award from Korea (2017) and Scientist of the Month Award from Korea (2017). He is a Young Member of Korean Academy of Science and Technology, an associate editor for Journal of Materials Chemistry A, a scientific editor for Materials Horizons (Royal Society of Chemistry, UK), and a board member of Materials Research Society (MRS), USA.
